National Institute of Fashion Technology - Chennai

More about NIFT Chennai National Institute of Fashion Technology was founded in 1986 under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Textiles, Indian Government. NIFT has played a major role in providing the fashion and apparel industry.    NIFT has become to known as the foremost Institute of Design, Management and Technology, budding professionals for taking up management positions in fashion business in the emerging global scenario. Facilities and Extra-curricular Activities

National Institute of Fashion Technology provides various facilities to its students within the campus. The Resource Centre of NIFT Chennai serves to the information needs of the institute students, faculty, staff and industries related to fashion, textile, leather and apparel.  The collection of the Resource Centre includes various learning materials like books, journals, AV materials apart from the reference materials such as textiles, fabric swatches, costumes, accessories etc. Right now, the Resource Centre subscribes around 125 domestic and international journals / magazines related to the subject area of the institute.  This institute also subscribes various online journals / database related to Design, Technology and Management. The Library wing of the Resource Centre comprises of huge collection of books, journals, A-V materials, CD-ROMS etc.,  Books on subjects like arts & Crafts, Fashion, Garment Manufacturing, Leather, Footwear, Leather Goods, Jewellery, Management, Merchandising etc.,  are available at the Library.  It subscribes to leading Indian / Foreign journals in the areas of Fashion, Garments, Textiles, Footwear, Leather Goods, Fashion Accessories etc. The services offered by the resource center sat NIFT Chennai are: Circulation of Books, Audio-Visual Materials and CD-ROMS, Book reservation, Document Clippings, Forecast Service , Photocopying Services, Sale of color chips , Scanning of Documents, Document Delivery Service etc. The other facilities offered by the NIFT Chennai are includes the facilities for its students and faculty members with inner courtyard and outer courtyard attached with table tennis , basketball court ,badminton court and a gymnasium. Institute provides residential accommodation for girls at all centers along with the mess facility and a full time Warden. Permanent hostel facilities are available within the campus at Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Raebareli. Though NIFT does not have campus hostel facilities at New Delhi, Kolkata and Gandhinagar, sufficient residential accommodation has arranged for women. NIFT Chennai also offers a regular transport facility to convey students to do their industry visits. Broad Band Wi-Fi internet facility almost around the clock is also provided within the campus
