St. Stephen's College - Delhi

St. Stephen's College was established on 1 February 1881 in Delhi. St. Stephen's is one of the oldest college in Delhi. Previously it was affiliated to Calcutta University, and Now it is affiliated to Punjab University. At last, in 1922 with the establishment of Delhi University, it became one of its three original constituent colleges.

Facilities and Extra-Curricular Activities

College provides hostel facility for nearly 250 boys and 108 girls within the college premises. The College provides a number of facilities for development of an integrated personality.

The infrastructure of St. Stephen’s College provides well-built smart classrooms, rich library; computer center equipped with modern technologies, laboratories for different subjects and dedicated experienced staff members makes the St. Stephen’s College a sole college. Apart from offering top class academic facilities, the college also provides additional amenities like sports & games, and other co curricular & extracurricular activities for personality developments.

St. Stephen's College Delhi has a fine library with a collection of more than ninety thousand books. The College play grounds for out-door games are located outside the Old City Wall between Kashmere Gate & Mori Gate while there are facilities for playing tennis, basketball and soccer on the College Campus.


The Francis Monk Gymnasium, the Junior Common Room and the Ladies Common Room offers facilities for gymnastics, badminton, squash, table tennis and other indoor games. The College has an all-India and all-denomination membership.

Student Societies and Clubs at this college play a major role in the entire life of the College. For each stream, there is a Society which sponsors extra-curricular lectures and discussion and, in general, tries to stimulate interest in the subject.

There are plenty of other academic and cultural societies and clubs covering a vast of activities, such as debating, dramatics, mountaineering, film and music appreciation, social service, photography, electronics and astronomy.
