Project management is the subject field of successful completion of specific project with planning and organizing. Project management is considered as developing a project plan, which includes determining and approving the project goals and objectives, describing the various tasks to achieve the goals and objective, determining the needful resources, budgets and deadlines for completion of project. Project management also include management of the deployment of the project plan, along with engaging regular checks to ensure that there is exact and intended information on accomplishment of plan, and the process of implementation of retrieval activities.
There are four phases of a project plus project controlling that are project initiation phase, project planning, project execution, project monitoring, project completion inclusive of feasibility, definition, project planning, implementation, evaluation and support or maintenance. There are many software tools available that make project management much more competent and economical.
There are project team members and project manager that are involved in a project management which constitutes a project team. Project team members who are responsible for executing the project as stated by project plan and directed by project manager. Project manager who sees that project team is working as per the instruction and deliver the project on time. There are other personnel normally non-technical also who are involved in project like Executive sponsor is the one who is responsible for spending and providing resources for project. Project director, steering committee and stakeholder are interested in outcome of project. Customer identifies the need of product or service for which the project is developed.
There are some skills that one must have in project management like start up the project team, leadership, meeting management, facilitate face-to-face or online group meetings, and problem solving in group and conflict management.
If one has the caliber to face all the challenges that comes on the way of project management, then he/ she may just need to have a certification in project management to get going in his/her career. There are many recognized institutes and business colleges offering MBA degree in project management. A company’s first and foremost concern is its reputation and the profitability which depends on success or failure of a project compels the company to hire qualified and experienced project managers.
